`Be Yourself-Unity Not Ubiformity`-this residency was hosted by the Preston Girls Secondary College and entailed introducing 24 year seven students to the Mandala art form and taking them through a process of creative self discovery. Because the mandala is so universal and acessable everyone was able to participate in the project and the results where quite stunning. Many of the girls came from a Muslim background and wore traditional attire,one student was blind. The challenge was to encourage each girl to recognize and prize their own unique expression and their inner self while at the same time guiding them to find unity in the collective whole. Each student made their own individual mandala and as well particpated in creating a large Unity mandala
