Mandala-Primitive Pop

Primitive-simple, direct and deliberately unsophisticated
For me, primitive pop seemed to be the right verbal expression for describing my work and it is often and it is often only in retrospect that the significance of my intuitive decisions becomes apparent to me. I began my work with the mandala in the early eighties combining the symbolism of ancient cultures with the colours and mediums inner suburban pop culture. Through this proces I began to experience a feeling of fusion between the old and the new, the known and the unknown, the knowledge- and the seeker. My work is intuitive and as such is not making a statement,it simply reveals a reality - it is visionary in its essence and does not belong to me, but stems from that central place in all our beings where there are no differences and where the boundaries melt and blend and become one Following your intuition, although rewarding, is always a journey into the unknown and with the unkown comes fear - it is at this point that one needs courage and seeks faith - a belief that the intuitive steps being taken will lead in the right direction and that the fruits of this decision will lead to positive results. Intuition like consciousness is a spiritual channel of communication that in todays world is often overtaken by the rational mind - If I’d listened to the voice of rationalisation I would never have taken the first step on this unfolding artistic journey. The Mandalas in the Gallery are a selection of those created over the years. For any enquires about sales, workshops, teaching or commissions please contact Margi at: margy_gibb@yahoo.com.au
